The shallow harbor waters make this beach perfect for young children. During the summer months, you’ll find family-friendly activities like dance and yoga for children, tie-dye classes, and a concert series. There is a playground as well.
Surfside Beach is located on the south shore which means larger waves, strong currents, and colder water. It’s easily accessible by the bike path or shuttle service, and there is parking but it is limited. Offers a snack bar and restrooms. Popular with families.
The south shore is generally home to the island’s strongest waves for surfing and boogie boarding. Four-wheel drive cars with on-sand permits are allowed to access the westernmost tip of the beach. This beach is the best place to watch the sunset on the island. Cisco has the brewery, Bartlett Farms and 167 Raw nearby, also.
Located on the bay in a quiet mid-island area, this beach is also one usually overlooked by the crowds. The calm, flat and shallow waters make it a great beach for little ones, water sports, or just exploring the inlets for marine life.
Three miles away along the north shore of the island. Few go to this gem where there are bathrooms, parking and no waves due to the northern exposure. You can bike there on the Madaket bike path.
